  • US GDP & Output-Gap Signals (derived)

US GDP and output-gap signals (growth, slack, investment/consumption shares)

Quarterly US national-accounts signals derived from FRED: real GDP growth (QoQ annualized and YoY), the CBO output gap (actual vs potential GDP) with its 10-year z-score, investment and consumption shares of GDP, the GDP-deflator inflation gauge, plus 30-quarter annualized change volatility, 1-quarter momentum, 3-sigma anomaly flags vs a trailing 12-quarter baseline, naive-drift 1-quarter forecasts and a per-quarter cross-series volatility rank. All rows are normalized to country_code USA so they join cleanly with US macro data. Raw series: Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED); underlying data: U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Congressional Budget Office.

  • US Retail Sales Signals (derived)

    US retail-sales signals

Monthly US retail-sales signals from Census advance retail data (FRED RSXFS nominal retail trade + RRSFS real retail & food services, 1992-01 ->, seasonally adjusted, keyless except the already-provisioned FRED key): year-on-year change, 3-month momentum, 12-month change volatility, 3-sigma anomaly flags, naive-drift forecasts, 5-year spending z-scores, and contraction/strong-expansion flags. The measured monthly household-spending lens between us-consumer-sentiment-signals (stated sentiment) and quarterly real PCE — the nominal/real split shows when spending growth is prices vs volume. All rows normalized to country_code USA. Raw data: Census Bureau via FRED.

  • Household Wealth Signals (derived)

US household wealth signals (net worth, nominal + real)

Quarterly US household wealth signals from the Fed Z.1 accounts (via FRED, 1951 ->): households and nonprofit organizations net worth in nominal and real (GDP-deflated) terms, with quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year changes, 30-quarter change volatility, 3-sigma wealth-shock flags, drift forecasts, 10-year wealth z-scores, real wealth-growth gauges and a wealth-drawdown flag. The wealth-effect lens on consumption: the stock companion to the saving/debt-flow signals in us-household-balance-signals. All rows normalized to country_code USA. Raw series: Federal Reserve (Z.1) and BEA via FRED.

  • World Bank

Final consumption expenditure (% of GDP)

Final consumption expenditure - expenditure on goods and services by resident institutional units (households, general government, the central bank and non-profit institutions serving households) for the direct satisfaction of human needs or wants - expressed as a share of GDP, for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). Published by the World Bank in the World Development Indicators from country official statistics, national statistical organizations and/or central banks, OECD national accounts data files and World Bank staff estimates. The demand side of the national accounts: consumption plus investment plus net exports equals GDP, so this series anchors the connector's trade and fiscal balance datasets. Consumption shares differ sharply across development models: the UK (82.71% in 2023) and the USA (81.26%) consume most of their output, while China saves and invests (56.76% in 2023); India's share fell from 71.43% in 2021 to 67.11% in 2023. Caveats: values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: % of GDP.
