NFIB optimism components panel (monthly)
Monthly USA panel of the 10 components behind the NFIB Small Business Optimism Index (2024-12 onward, one documented upstream gap: 2025-01), transcribed from each month's NFIB Small Business Economic Trends report PDF: seasonally adjusted levels (percent) for hiring plans, capex plans, inventory plans, expected business conditions, expected real sales, inventory satisfaction, job openings, expected credit conditions, expansion outlook, and earnings trends. Each month is gated against the report's own summary sentence (headline optimism + month) and its breadth sentence (N up / M down / K unchanged). Derived: per-component month-over-month changes (null across gaps, never interpolated), trailing-12-month z-scores, up/down/flat breadth counts, NFIB hard/soft component averages, and a documented 0-100 smallbiz_confidence_score (mean of per-component percentile ranks vs own history). Sources: NFIB SBET monthly report PDFs (keyless). Reproduced with attribution per the report colophon. Who joins this: sales teams join SMB-demand components to pipeline on year_month; online shops join hiring/capex plans to B2B inventory planning; subscription businesses join SME optimism components to SMB-segment signups/churn.
