Mean age of women at childbirth (annual, Europe)

Annual mean age of women at childbirth - the average age of mothers giving birth in the given year - for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset demo_find ('Fertility indicators'), filtered to freq=A, indic_de=AGEMOTH ('Mean age of women at childbirth'). Each row is one (year, country). Method: Eurostat compiles the indicator from national vital-statistics registers; it is a period mean over all births in the year, all birth orders combined. Units: years. Caveats: the mean rises with first-birth postponement - pair it with the total-fertility-rate dataset to separate the tempo effect (delayed births) from the quantum effect (fewer births); national breaks in vital-statistics series are flagged in Eurostat metadata; early years are sparse for newer member and candidate countries. Non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries (the UK, Kosovo, Russia, Belarus) are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets).
