Monthly housing starts from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation as published by Statistics Canada (table 34-10-0158-01, 'all areas', seasonally adjusted at annual rates): the number of dwelling units started per month, for Canada, the 10 provinces and the Atlantic/Prairie aggregates. Values are published in thousands of dwelling units (kept verbatim — the unit is documented on the column, multiply by 1,000 for unit counts). Coverage 1990-01 to the present; the table publishes no territorial series. Derived columns: month-over-month and year-over-year percent changes plus trailing 3- and 12-month averages (warm-up nulls, never back-filled) — the ready-made momentum features for demand forecasting. Caveats: seasonally adjusted at annual rates (SAAR), not raw monthly counts; 'all areas' includes rural areas outside centres of 10,000+; the latest month is occasionally revised.
