Ember
Monthly electricity generation, generation mix shares, CO2 emissions and emissions intensity by electricity source for around 230 countries and economies plus regional aggregates, from Ember's harmonized monthly electricity dataset (https://files.ember-energy.org/public-downloads/generation/outputs/release_generation_monthly_global.csv). Each row is one (month, area, electricity source): generation in TWh with year-on-year changes, share of that area's generation in percent, CO2 emissions in MtCO2e with year-on-year changes, share of emissions, and emissions intensity in gCO2e/kWh, alongside area metadata (ISO alpha-3 code, continent, Ember region, EU/OECD/G20/G7/ASEAN membership). Method: Ember harmonizes national statistics; sources flagged is_aggregated_source=True (Clean, Fossil, Renewables, Total generation, Wind and solar, 'Hydro, bioenergy and other renewables') are composites of the granular sources, and 'Demand'/'Net imports' are balance rows. Units: TWh for generation, MtCO2e for emissions, gCO2e/kWh for intensity, percent / percentage points for shares and changes. Caveats: YoY-change columns are empty for each series' first 12 months; regional aggregates have no iso3 code; the latest 1-2 months are provisional and routinely revised. Coverage: worldwide, 1998-12 to the present, monthly granularity. Provenance: Ember keyless public CSV, CC BY 4.0 - please cite Ember (ember-energy.org). Primary key: (month, area, electricity_source). Join keys: iso3 (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), month. Cadence: refreshed monthly; new months typically appear ~6 weeks after month-end. Sample use: filter area='Germany' and is_aggregated_source=False to track its generation mix over time.
