Housing Market Signals (derived)
Signals derived from FRED's US housing series: 30-period annualized volatility of changes, 3-month momentum, year-over-year percent change (the Case-Shiller boom/bust gauge), 3-sigma anomaly flags, naive-drift 1-month forecasts, a per-date cross-series volatility rank, and the permits-to-starts pipeline ratio. Covers HOUST (monthly housing starts), PERMIT (monthly building permits), CSUSHPISA (S&P/Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price Index), MORTGAGE30US (weekly 30-yr fixed mortgage rate) and HSN1F (monthly new one-family houses sold). All rows are normalized to country_code USA so they join cleanly with US macro data. Raw series: Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED).

Quarterly housing starts from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation as published by Statistics Canada (table 34-10-0140-01, 'Total units', seasonally adjusted at annual rates): the number of dwelling units started, for Canada, the 10 provinces and 34 census metropolitan areas. Values are published in thousands of units (kept verbatim — the unit is documented on the column, multiply by 1,000 for unit counts). Coverage 1990-Q1 to the present for Canada, the provinces and most CMAs; genuine upstream gaps are kept missing, never zero-filled (six CMAs start 2007-Q1, Abbotsford-Mission and Kingston start 2014-Q1, and the Ottawa-Gatineau Quebec part is missing its three latest quarters).
