US IRS tax-refund pulse (weekly, filing season)

Weekly US tax-refund pulse intelligence from the IRS's public filing-season statistics releases: one row per filing-season week (2025 and 2026 seasons, 14 weeks each, weeks ending Fridays). Each row carries the cumulative refunds issued and dollars refunded verbatim from the IRS, plus the transformed weekly pulse: week-over-week refunds issued and dollars (first differences of the cumulative series, weeks verified exactly 7 days apart), the week's share of the season's total refund dollars (the 14-week IRS release window; 2025's window captured 83.6% of its full-season total), same-season-week year-over-year growth, the season's peak week, and context columns (returns received/processed, e-filing share, direct-deposit detail). Method: melt each release's two-column cumulative table (current + aligned prior-season week), difference to weekly increments, normalize to ordinal season weeks. Caveats: weeks ending before Feb 15 understate issuance (PATH Act holds EITC/ACTC refunds until Feb 15 — flagged); direct-deposit counts include prior-year returns so they can exceed total refunds (flagged); the 2026 season total is preliminary (post-season IRS updates revise it upward); weekly values are national, not state-level. U.S. federal public domain (commercial reuse allowed with attribution to the Internal Revenue Service).
