    ILO: employment by sex and economic activity (annual)

    Employment by sex and broad economic activity sector, annual, for 312 countries, territories and ILO regional aggregates (historical series back to 1947 for China, Japan and the United States; 73,959 observations), from ILOSTAT national labour force surveys and microdata processing — dataflow DF_EMP_TEMP_SEX_ECO_NB. Four sectors per country x sex: total employment plus agriculture, industry and services (the three published sectors sum to the total in the published series). Method: employed persons by ISIC-based economic activity of the main job. Units: thousands of persons, kept verbatim as published (UNIT_MULT=3). Caveats: sector classifications are revised when countries adopt new ISIC revisions, so series carry breaks (OBS_STATUS=B); agriculture includes forestry and fishing; industry includes mining, manufacturing, utilities and construction; country coverage and start years vary widely (Canada: 1969 to 2025); the 2026-2027 rows are modelled regional aggregates, not country data.

    Value-added Canadian macro signals derived from the free Statistics Canada GDP-by-industry data (Open Licence): per-industry 3-month annualized momentum, year-on-year growth, 3-sigma anomaly flags and monthly cross-industry momentum ranks, plus the headline growth-breadth gauge — the share of industries expanding — so users can see whether Canadian growth is broad-based or narrow. All computation is local pandas/numpy; no paid models or APIs.
