SDG 8.3.1: informal employment rate by sex (annual)

Informal employment as a percentage of total employment by sex, annual, for 234 countries, territories and ILO aggregates (2000 to the latest year, 10,281 observations). ILO SDG indicator 8.3.1, harmonized across national labour force surveys and ILO-STATISTICS microdata processing — dataflow DF_SDG_0831_SEX_ECO_RT, ECO_SECTOR_TOTAL (all economic activities). Method: employed persons in informal employment (own-account workers in the informal sector, contributing family workers, informal employees and members of informal producers' cooperatives) as a percentage of total employment. Units: percent. Caveats: coverage is sparse for high-income countries (Canada has no published series, Germany's ends in 2022); the latest 2026-2027 rows for many countries are ILO modelled estimates rather than reported survey data; figures are revised when the ILO publishes a new vintage.
