    Global CO2 growth signals (growth rate, acceleration, records)

    Monthly global CO2 accumulation signals from NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory measurements (1974 ->): the de-seasonalized global monthly mean with 3-month momentum, year-on-year change, 30-month change volatility, 3-sigma anomaly flags, naive-drift forecasts, the annual growth rate (ppm/yr and %), growth acceleration, a rolling 10-year trend slope, record-high flags and an acceleration flag. The pace-of-accumulation lens on the carbon cycle — levels always rise, so the growth rate is the signal. Companion to us-carbon-accountability-signals (company emissions) and us-climate-signals (city temperatures). Rows normalized to country_code WLD (World).     Greenhouse gas emissions by source sector (annual, Europe)

    Annual greenhouse gas emissions in million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, by CRF source sector, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and the EU aggregate. Eurostat dataset env_air_gge ('Greenhouse gas emissions by source sector'), filtered to the airpol GHG slice, unit MIO_T, the six top-level CRF (Common Reporting Format) sectors: CRF1 Energy (fuel combustion, energy industries, transport), CRF2 Industrial processes and product use, CRF3 Agriculture, CRF4 LULUCF (land use, land-use change and forestry), CRF5 Waste management and CRF6 Other. Each row is one (year, country, sector). Method: national greenhouse gas inventories compiled by the member states under the EU Monitoring Mechanism Regulation and transmitted to the EEA; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Caveats: LULUCF (CRF4) is frequently a net carbon SINK, so its values are negative for countries whose forests absorb more than their land use emits (France, the EU aggregate) - the negatives are genuine and are kept; summing all six sectors reproduces the 'Total excluding memo items' inventory, while the total dataset's TOTX4_MEMO excludes LULUCF. Coverage: ~32 geographic units after the geo rule, 1990 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code, sector_code). Eurostat dataset env_air_gge ('Greenhouse gas emissions by source sector'), filtered to the airpol GHG slice ('Greenhouse gases: CO2, N2O, CH4, HFC, PFC, SF6 and NF3 in CO2 equivalent'), source sector TOTX4_MEMO ('Total excluding LULUCF and memo items' - the headline national total used in EU climate reporting), unit MIO_T ('Million tonnes'). Each row is one (year, country). Method: national greenhouse gas inventories compiled by the member states under the EU Monitoring Mechanism Regulation and transmitted to the EEA; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets - the UK does not report to this table). Units: million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Caveats: totals are the sum of sector estimates and carry inventory-methodology uncertainty; annual revisions are routine (Eurostat updated this table 2026-06-02); LULUCF is excluded from this total (see the by-sector dataset, where LULUCF appears as a separate - often negative - sector).
