Gross enrolment ratios by education level (UNESCO UIS)
Gross enrolment ratios (percent) by country/region and year, from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (https://api.uis.unesco.org/api/public/data/indicators). Each row is one (year, area, indicator): total enrolment at primary (GER.1, ISCED 1), lower secondary (GER.2, ISCED 2), upper secondary (GER.3, ISCED 3) and tertiary (GER.5T8, ISCED 5-8) education as a share of the official school-age population for the level, both sexes. Method: keyless UIS Data API v1; one request per indicator; null values dropped; rows with qualifier UIS_EST/NAT_EST are estimates. Units: percent — ratios can exceed 100% where repeaters or over-age pupils are enrolled. Caveats: administrative data, sparse for many countries (especially pre-2000); latest 1-2 years provisional and revised; regional aggregates have no iso3 code. Coverage: worldwide, 1970 to 2025, yearly granularity. Provenance: UNESCO Institute for Statistics, CC BY-SA 4.0 — please cite the UIS with the extraction date. Primary key: (indicator_id, area, year). Join keys: iso3 (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly. Sample use: filter indicator_id='GER.5T8' and iso3='KOR' to track tertiary enrolment in Korea.
