Suspects and offenders by age, annual (Europe)

Annual suspected, prosecuted and convicted persons by age class - all offence categories combined - for EU member states, EFTA countries and EU candidate countries. Eurostat dataset crim_just_age ('Suspects and offenders by age'), filtered to freq=A ('Annual'), unit=NR ('Number'), age in (TOTAL 'Total', JUVENILE 'Juvenile', ADULT 'Adult'); all three legal statuses are kept. Each row is one (year, country, legal status, age class): the number of persons, from police and justice records compiled by Eurostat under the UNODC International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS): PER_SUSP 'Suspected person', PER_PRSC 'Prosecuted person', PER_CNV 'Convicted person'. Non-EU/EFTA/candidate series (the UK sub-national series UKC-L/UKM/UKN, Kosovo) are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: persons (counts). Caveats: prosecution and conviction counts lag the offence year through the justice pipeline, and coverage of the pipeline stages differs across countries; the juvenile/adult age boundary is defined nationally and is not harmonized. Coverage: ~37 geographic units after the geo rule, 2008 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code, justice_status, age_class). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat updates the crime statistics in spring (2026-04-29 vintage covers 2008-2024). Sample use: filter justice_status='PER_SUSP' and age_class='JUVENILE' to track juvenile suspects over time.
