CDC U.S. Chronic Disease Indicators
U.S. state-level cardiovascular disease indicators from the CDC U.S. Chronic Disease Indicators set: coronary heart disease and stroke mortality, high blood pressure and high cholesterol prevalence, medication use, and heart-failure hospitalizations (Medicare beneficiaries 65+). Rows are indicator x state x year x demographic stratification.
U.S. state-level COPD indicators from the CDC U.S. Chronic Disease Indicators set: COPD prevalence among adults, COPD mortality (45+, underlying and contributing cause), current smoking among adults with COPD, and COPD hospitalizations (Medicare beneficiaries 65+). Rows are indicator x state x year x demographic stratification.
U.S. state-level diabetes indicators from the CDC U.S. Chronic Disease Indicators set: diabetes prevalence among adults, diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis mortality (underlying or contributing cause), and gestational diabetes among women with a recent live birth. Rows are indicator x state x year x demographic stratification.
U.S. state-level mental health indicators from the CDC U.S. Chronic Disease Indicators set: depression among adults, frequent mental distress, average mentally unhealthy days, current poor mental health among high school students, and postpartum depressive symptoms. Rows are indicator x state x year x demographic stratification.
US State Chronic-Disease Disparity Signals (derived)
State-level chronic-disease signals derived from the CDC Chronic Disease Indicators: prevalence, mortality and hospitalization trends for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, COPD and mental health across 55 US states/territories (2019-2023), with year-on-year changes, momentum, 3-sigma anomaly flags vs a trailing 3-year baseline, naive-drift 1-year forecasts, cross-state momentum ranks, and Black-White and female-male disparity gaps. The monetizable health-equity signals layer on top of raw CDC chronic-disease statistics. Raw series: CDC Chronic Disease Indicators (Socrata).
Eurostat
Annual share of the population aged 16 and over reporting a long-standing illness or health problem, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset hlth_silc_11 ('People having a long-standing illness or health problem, by sex, age and income quintile'), filtered to unit=PC ('Percentage'), quant_inc=TOTAL ('Total'), age=Y_GE16 ('16 years or over') and sex=T ('Total'). Each row is one (year, country). Method: Eurostat compiles the EU Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) microdata transmitted by the member states; the illness figure is self-reported in the annual EU-SILC interview and covers any illness or health problem expected to last (or having lasted) at least six months. Non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets; the UK and Kosovo are dropped). Units: percent of the 16+ population. Caveats: the indicator is subjective (self-reported health), so cross-country differences mix real morbidity with reporting culture; Germany has a genuine upstream gap for 2021; the EU27_2020 and EA21 aggregates are included as published. Coverage: 44 geographic units after the geo rule, 2008 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat publishes the series each autumn. Sample use: filter country_code='FRA' to track France's self-reported chronic-illness prevalence over time.
Annual share of the population aged 16 and over reporting a long-standing illness or health problem, broken down by sex, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset hlth_silc_11 ('People having a long-standing illness or health problem, by sex, age and income quintile'), filtered to unit=PC ('Percentage'), quant_inc=TOTAL ('Total'), age=Y_GE16 ('16 years or over') and sex=M/F ('Males' / 'Females'). It extends the headline dataset 'longstanding-illness-annual' (the sex=T slice of the same table). Each row is one (year, country, sex): women report a long-standing illness or health problem at higher rates than men in the large majority of published country-years (e.g. FRA 2025: 43.8% F vs 39.4% M; DEU 2025: 39.1% F vs 35.3% M). Method and caveats as the headline dataset; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule). Units: percent of the 16+ population of the sex group. Coverage: 44 geographic units after the geo rule, 2008 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code, sex). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year, sex. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat publishes the series each autumn. Sample use: filter sex='F' to track women's self-reported chronic-illness prevalence across countries.
