Poverty headcount ratio at $8.30 a day (% of population)
Poverty headcount ratio at $8.30 a day is the percentage of the population living on less than $8.30 a day at 2021 international prices (2021 PPP) — the international poverty line for upper-middle-income economies. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the Poverty and Inequality Platform, based on primary household survey data from government statistical agencies and World Bank country departments (data for high-income economies are mostly from the Luxembourg Income Study database). As a result of revisions in PPP exchange rates, poverty rates for individual countries cannot be compared with poverty rates reported in earlier editions. The 8-country panel is covered 2000-2024, with observations only in household-survey years; coverage is sparse for low-income countries by construction (India has 4 observations); values are null where no survey exists for that year and are never interpolated.
