Eurostat
Annual at-risk-of-poverty rate: the share of the population with an equivalised disposable income below 60% of the national median (after social transfers), for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat headline indicator tespm010 ('People at risk of poverty or social exclusion'), served from the same EU-SILC dissemination table as ilc_li02, filtered to the 60%-of-median threshold (rskpovth=B_60, statinfo=MED_EI), total population, both sexes. Each row is one (year, country). Method: Eurostat compiles EU-SILC microdata transmitted by the member states; equivalised income divides household income by the modified OECD equivalence scale; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: percent of population. Caveats: EU-SILC income data refer to the year before the survey year; the 2021 EU-SILC methodological revision breaks comparability with pre-2021 values for some countries; the UK series ends in 2019 and Kosovo (XK) is dropped by the connector's commercial-use geo rule; the EU, EU27_2020, EU28, EA and EA21 aggregates are included as published. Coverage: 39 geographic units after the geo rule, 2014 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat updates EU-SILC indicators in autumn. Sample use: filter country_code='ROU' to track Romania's at-risk-of-poverty rate over time.
Poverty & Inequality Signals (derived)
Country-level signals derived from World Bank poverty and inequality indicators (Gini index, poverty headcount at $3.00 and $4.20 a day, 2021 PPP): 10-year point changes, OLS trend slopes over trailing survey years, 3-sigma anomaly flags, 5-year linear-extrapolation forecasts, per-year cross-country ranks, a poverty-improvement flag and a high-inequality flag. All rows are normalized to ISO alpha-3 country_code so they join cleanly with country macro data. Raw data: World Bank Poverty and Inequality Platform (keyless API, non-commercial terms).
SDG Goal Progress Signals (derived)
Value-added UN Sustainable Development Goal progress signals: 10-year progress rates, cross-country improvement z-scores, naive drift projections to the 2030 deadline, and on-track/off-track flags for poverty, electricity access, safe drinking water, and maternal mortality across ~200 countries. All computation is local pandas/numpy; no paid models or APIs.
UN SDG Global Database
Proportion of population below international poverty line (%) SDG indicator SI_POV_DAY1 (SDG goal 1). Source: UN SDG Global Database. Rows are geo-area x year x disaggregation dimensions (sex, age, location/urban-rural where published).
World Bank
Gini index measures the extent to which the distribution of income (or, in some cases, consumption expenditure) among individuals or households within an economy deviates from a perfectly equal distribution. A Gini index of 0 represents perfect equality, while an index of 100 implies perfect inequality.
Poverty gap at $3.00 a day is the mean shortfall in income or consumption from the poverty line of $3.00 a day at 2021 international prices (2021 PPP), counting the non-poor as having zero shortfall, expressed as a percentage of the poverty line. It reflects the depth of poverty as well as its incidence. As a result of revisions in PPP exchange rates, poverty rates for individual countries cannot be compared with poverty rates reported in earlier editions.
Poverty headcount ratio at $3.00 a day is the percentage of the population living on less than $3.00 a day at 2021 international prices (2021 PPP). As a result of revisions in PPP exchange rates, poverty rates for individual countries cannot be compared with poverty rates reported in earlier editions.
