Military expenditure by country as a percentage of gross domestic product, on the SIPRI/NATO definition: all current and capital spending on the armed forces including peacekeeping forces, defence ministries and other government agencies engaged in defence projects, paramilitary forces trained and equipped for military operations, and military space activities. Veterans' benefits, demobilization, conversion and civilian defence are excluded. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the SIPRI Military Expenditure Database. Values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: percent of GDP.
