Merchandise exports (current US$)

Merchandise exports in current U.S. dollars - goods whose economic ownership is changed from a resident to a non-resident, excluding merchanting, non-monetary gold, and parts of travel, construction, and government goods and services n.i.e. - for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the World Trade Organization (WTO) Merchandise Trade Statistics database. Expressed in current prices (no adjustment for price changes over time), in U.S. dollars. It pairs with the connector's merchandise-imports dataset added alongside it: exports minus imports is the merchandise trade balance (China runs a large surplus throughout, e.g. +US$822.1B in 2023; the USA a large deficit, e.g. -US$1,150.2B in 2023). It also complements the connector's exports-of-goods-and-services dataset (merchandise only, services excluded). The 8-country panel is fully covered 2000-2025 with no upstream gaps observed - values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: current US$.
