Annual share of individuals who participate in social networks (creating a user profile, posting messages or other contributions), for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset isoc_ci_ac_i ('Individuals - internet activities'), filtered to the indicator I_IUSNET ('participating in social networks (creating user profile, posting messages or other contributions to facebook, twitter, etc.)'), unit PC_IND ('Percentage of individuals'), ind_type IND_TOTAL ('All individuals' - the ICT survey's target population, aged 16 to 74). Each row is one (year, country). Method: Eurostat's annual survey on ICT usage in households and by individuals, self-reported by national statistical offices; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: percent of individuals. Caveats: the social-network indicator is fielded in survey waves rather than every year, so coverage is thinner than the headline internet-use series (2011 to the present; e.g. France publishes no 2024 cell); the 2021 ICT questionnaire revision breaks comparability with pre-2021 values for some countries; the UK and Kosovo (XK) are dropped by the connector's commercial-use geo rule; the EU, EU27_2020 and EA aggregates are included as published. Coverage: ~41 geographic units after the geo rule, 2011 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat updates the ICT indicators in spring.
