US energy price outlook (STEO), monthly

Monthly US energy-price outlook panel from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), 2022-01 onward: published history spliced with EIA's modeled forecast for six consumer-facing prices — Brent and WTI crude spot (USD/bbl), US retail regular-grade gasoline and on-highway diesel (USD/gal, including taxes), Henry Hub natural gas spot (USD/MMBtu), and US residential electricity (cents/kWh). Each row carries an is_forecast flag and forecast_horizon_months measured from the STEO vintage (the modeling-completion date printed in the release), plus 1-month and 12-month percent changes over the spliced series. Method caveats: STEO forecasts are EIA's modeled outlook, not observations — every refresh mints a new snapshot whose vintage column identifies the release, so the snapshot history is the vintage archive; EIA revises history with each release; the history/forecast break follows EIA's vintage month (the shaded break in the published table is approximate). One row per month x commodity x USA; in-window nulls fail loudly, never imputed. Who joins this: online shops join fuel prices on year_month to model delivery costs and discretionary demand; subscription businesses test whether gasoline-price spikes lead churn; sales teams weight freight-exposed pipeline on the diesel outlook.
