U.S. federal receipts, outlays and deficit/surplus from the Monthly Treasury Statement (MTS) Table 1: calendar-month detail for each fiscal year and fiscal-year-to-date totals, in dollars. The deficit/surplus series is positive when the government runs a deficit (outlays exceed receipts) and negative for a surplus. Monthly detail from October 2014.

Revenue, excluding grants (% of GDP)
Revenue, excluding grants - an increase in net worth resulting from a transaction, with grants excluded - as a share of GDP, for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the Government Finance Statistics Yearbook and data files (International Monetary Fund). Pairs with the government-expense-gdp-share dataset: expense minus revenue excluding grants approximates the overall fiscal balance, though it is not exactly the deficit because grants are excluded from this figure. The 8-country panel is covered 2000-2025; values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: % of GDP.
