Quarterly purchase-only House Price Index by U.S. state from the Federal Housing Finance Agency master file (https://www.fhfa.gov/hpi/download/monthly/hpi_master.csv). The flagship FHFA HPI: seasonally adjusted purchase-only data from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, weighted repeat-sales method, indexed to 1991Q1=100; both the seasonally adjusted and not-seasonally-adjusted series are included. Method: keyless download of the master CSV, filtered to level=State, hpi_flavor=purchase-only, hpi_type=traditional, frequency=quarterly. Units: index points (1991Q1=100). Caveats: the latest quarter is preliminary and revised in later releases; the index measures price change, not price levels, so cross-state level comparisons are meaningless — compare growth rates; 'FHFA House Price Index®' is a registered trademark (branding constraint only). Coverage: 50 states + DC, 1991Q1 to the latest published quarter, quarterly granularity. Provenance: FHFA HPI master file, U.S. public domain - please cite the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
