arXiv monthly submissions by category

Monthly e-print submission counts for 16 major arXiv categories (AI, machine learning, NLP, computer vision, robotics, software engineering, cryptography, HCI, databases, information retrieval, multiagent systems, neural/evolutionary computing, statistical ML, econometrics, computational finance, signal processing), trailing 6 complete calendar months, from the keyless arXiv query API (https://export.arxiv.org/api/query, descriptive metadata under CC0 1.0). Each row is one (category, month): e-prints submitted that month. Method: one submittedDate range query per category per month (the API returns HTTP 500 for deep offsets, so per-month ranges are used instead of a deep newest-first crawl) with the 3 s inter-request delay the arXiv Terms of Use require; papers are counted once, in their original submission month (the earliest announcement date of the unversioned id). Caveats: cross-listed e-prints are counted in every category they appear in; a paper whose newest version falls in the window but whose original submission predates it is attributed to the earliest version seen.
