Renewable energy consumption (% of total final energy consumption)
Renewable energy consumption is the share of renewables (modern and traditional) in total final energy consumption, measuring how fast each economy is shifting its energy mix away from fossil fuels. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the IEA Energy Statistics Data Browser and the United Nations Energy Statistics Database; traditional biomass is counted, so a high share can reflect traditional bioenergy use (e.g. India) rather than modern renewables alone. The 8-country panel is covered 2000-2021 (the 2022 vintage has no observations yet, reflecting the reporting lag of national energy balances); values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: percent of total final energy consumption.
