Liner shipping connectivity index
Liner shipping connectivity index (UNCTAD Liner Shipping Connectivity Index, maximum value in 2004 = 100), for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). The index captures how well countries are connected to global shipping networks: UNCTAD computes it from the number of ships, their container-carrying capacity, the number of regular services and operating companies, and the size of the largest vessel deployed on services to and from each country's ports. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators. Pairs with the connector's container-port-traffic (TEU) dataset (throughput vs network connectivity on the same maritime trade) and with the air-transport-freight dataset (maritime vs air freight capacity). The 8-country panel is covered 2006-2021 with every panel member publishing every year in that window; values are null where the index is unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: index points, maximum 2004 = 100.
