External balance on goods and services (% of GDP)
The external balance on goods and services is the difference between exports and imports of goods and services, expressed as a percentage of GDP — the basic trade-balance indicator of an economy: positive values are surpluses, negative values genuine deficits (kept, never dropped). The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from country official statistics, national accounts data files, OECD statistics, and World Bank staff estimates. It complements the connector's exports/imports and trade-share datasets. The 8-country panel is covered 2000-2025; values are null where national statistics are unavailable. Units: percent of GDP.
