Building permits: dwellings (monthly, Europe)

Monthly building permits for residential buildings, measured in number of dwellings, as a seasonally and calendar adjusted index (2021=100). Eurostat dataset sts_cobp_m ('Building permits by type of building - monthly data'), indicator indic_bt=BPRM_DW (building permits, number of dwellings), building type cpa2_1=CPA_F41001_X_410014 ('Residential buildings, except residences for communities' - the dwellings headline total; residences for communities are excluded by construction), s_adj=SCA (seasonally and calendar adjusted), unit I21 (index, 2021=100). Each row is one (month, country). Method: short-term business statistics compiled by Eurostat from national statistical institutes' building-permit registers; the SCA series removes seasonal and calendar effects. Units: index points (2021=100). Caveats: permits are authorizations, not starts or completions; national series start dates vary and some countries revise late data; the UK is dropped by the connector's commercial-use geo rule; the EU27_2020 and EA aggregates are included as published. Coverage: ~20 geographic units after the geo rule, monthly from the early 2000s (varies by country) to the latest month. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (month, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), month. Cadence: refreshed monthly; Eurostat publishes the series about two months after the reference month. Sample use: filter country_code='DEU' to track German residential construction authorizations.
