    Labor force participation rate, total (% ages 15+, natl. est.)

    Labor force participation rate for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India): the proportion of the population ages 15 and older that is economically active - employed or unemployed and seeking work - in percent of the total population ages 15+ (national estimate). The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the ILO Labour Force Statistics database (ILOSTAT), accessed 2026-06-22; WDI vintage last updated 2026-07-13. It pairs with the connector's employment-to-population-ratio dataset: participation times (1 - unemployment rate) approximates the employment ratio, and the gap between the two series is the unemployment share of the 15+ population. Canada leads the panel every fixture year (65.79% in 2023) and India is lowest (55.75% in 2023); China's 2021-2023 cells are null upstream (genuine reporting gap, kept verbatim, never interpolated). Caveat: national-estimate methodology means labor-force definitions differ by country. Units: % of total population ages 15+.
