Annual median equivalised disposable income in euro, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset ilc_di03 ('Mean and median income by age and sex'), filtered to statinfo=MED_EI ('Median equivalised income'), age=TOTAL, sex=T, unit=EUR (euro). Each row is one (year, country): the median equivalised disposable income - half the population lives in households with more, half with less. Method: Eurostat compiles EU-SILC microdata transmitted by the member states; income is equivalised disposable income (modified OECD equivalence scale: 1.0 for the first adult, 0.5 for each additional person aged 14+, 0.3 for each child under 14). Non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: euro (EUR), nominal. Caveats: nominal euro values mix real income growth with inflation and exchange-rate effects (non-euro countries); national EU-SILC redesigns create series breaks for some countries; DE publishes a back-cast 1995 cell with a 2003-2004 gap before the EU-SILC era. It extends the headline dataset 'median-income-annual' (the sex=T slice of the same table). Each row is one (year, country, sex): the median equivalised disposable income for males and females separately - income is equivalised at the household level (modified OECD equivalence scale), so the sex gap reflects the gender composition of households across the income distribution rather than a pay gap per se.
