Mean equivalised disposable income (annual, EUR)

Annual mean equivalised disposable income in euro, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset ilc_di03 ('Mean and median income by age and sex'), filtered to statinfo=MEAN_EI ('Mean equivalised income'), age=TOTAL, sex=T, unit=EUR (euro). Each row is one (year, country): the arithmetic mean of equivalised disposable income across the population - it complements the connector's 'median-income-annual' dataset (the MED_EI slice of the same table): the mean runs above the median in every published country-year (right-skewed income distributions; e.g. DEU 2024: 31,856 vs 27,619 EUR), and the mean-median gap is itself a read on inequality. Method: Eurostat compiles EU-SILC microdata transmitted by the member states; income is equivalised disposable income (modified OECD equivalence scale); non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule). Units: euro (EUR), nominal. Caveats: nominal values mix real income growth with inflation and exchange-rate effects (non-euro countries); national EU-SILC redesigns create series breaks for some countries (e.g. Germany's 2020 jump); DE publishes back-cast 1995-2001 cells with a 2002-2004 gap. Coverage: 45 geographic units after the geo rule, 1995 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat updates EU-SILC indicators in autumn. Sample use: join with 'median-income-annual' to track the mean-median income gap as an inequality signal.
