Annual greenhouse gas emissions in million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, by CRF source sector, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and the EU aggregate. Eurostat dataset env_air_gge ('Greenhouse gas emissions by source sector'), filtered to the airpol GHG slice, unit MIO_T, the six top-level CRF (Common Reporting Format) sectors: CRF1 Energy (fuel combustion, energy industries, transport), CRF2 Industrial processes and product use, CRF3 Agriculture, CRF4 LULUCF (land use, land-use change and forestry), CRF5 Waste management and CRF6 Other. Each row is one (year, country, sector). Method: national greenhouse gas inventories compiled by the member states under the EU Monitoring Mechanism Regulation and transmitted to the EEA; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Caveats: LULUCF (CRF4) is frequently a net carbon SINK, so its values are negative for countries whose forests absorb more than their land use emits (France, the EU aggregate) - the negatives are genuine and are kept; summing all six sectors reproduces the 'Total excluding memo items' inventory, while the total dataset's TOTX4_MEMO excludes LULUCF. Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly. Sample use: filter sector_code='CRF1' to track energy-sector emissions by country.
