Annual energy data by country from the Energy Institute Statistical Review of World Energy via Our World in Data: total consumption, fossil fuels, renewables, nuclear, and per-capita figures.

Share of electricity generated from oil, gas and coal in total electricity generated by all types of plants, for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). Oil means crude oil and petroleum products; gas means natural gas (excluding natural gas liquids); coal means all coal and brown coal. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the IEA Energy Statistics Data Browser (vintage last updated 2026-07-13). It completes the connector's electricity-mix decomposition alongside the coal-electricity-output-share and renewable-electricity-output-share datasets: fossil minus coal isolates the oil-and-gas share. India (77.59% in 2023) and China (64.40%) are the most fossil-reliant, France the least (7.44% in 2023, briefly 11.87% in 2022 when nuclear outages forced gas and oil plants to pick up the slack - a genuine upstream spike kept verbatim). Values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: % of total electricity output.
