Early leavers from education and training (annual, Europe)

Annual share of 18-24 year olds whose highest completed education is lower secondary or below (ISCED 0-2) and who received no education or training in the four weeks preceding the EU Labour Force Survey interview, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidate countries and EU/euro-area aggregates. Eurostat dataset edat_lfse_14 ('Early leavers from education and training by labour status'), filtered to sex=T, age=Y18-24, unit=PC and wstatus=POP (the whole 18-24 population, i.e. the EU headline 'early school leaving' indicator). Each row is one (year, country). Method: Eurostat compiles the EU Labour Force Survey microdata transmitted by the member states; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries (the UK series ends in 2019) are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: percent of the 18-24 population. Caveats: methodological breaks in national LFS series (flagged in Eurostat metadata) shift some countries' series; the UK is dropped by the connector's commercial-use geo rule; the EU27_2020 and EA21 aggregates are included as published. Coverage: ~37 geographic units after the geo rule, 1992 to the present, annual. Provenance: Eurostat keyless JSON-stat API, free reuse with attribution (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU) - please cite Eurostat. Primary key: (year, country_code). Join keys: country_code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3), year. Cadence: refreshed yearly; Eurostat publishes the series in spring. Sample use: filter country_code='ESP' to track Spain's early school-leaving rate over time.
