WB Energy-Access Signals (derived)
Annual energy-access signals from the World Bank API (~1990 -> latest, ~210 economies): electricity access, clean-cooking access and per-capita electric power consumption, with 10-year changes, OLS trend slopes, 3-sigma anomaly flags, 5-year extrapolation forecasts, and SDG 7 gauges: the remaining access gap, a universal-access flag (>=99%), 5-year electrification momentum, a clean-cooking laggard flag (<50%), and a 10-year consumption z-score. The energy-development lens — who has power and how fast access is advancing — the access companion to the electricity-mix lens in owid-energy-transition-signals. Raw indicators: World Bank.
World Bank
The proportion of the population primarily using clean cooking fuels and technologies, for the 8-country panel (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, China, India). Under WHO guidelines, kerosene is excluded from clean cooking fuels. The World Bank publishes the indicator in the World Development Indicators from the Tracking SDG 7: The Energy Progress Report (IEA, IRENA, UNSD, World Bank, WHO; 2025 edition, SDG indicator 7.1.2). Pairs with the access-to-electricity dataset (both are the SE4ALL/Tracking-SDG7 energy-access indicators). The 8-country panel is covered 2000-2023; high-income members are at 100% throughout. Values are null where national statistics are unavailable and are never interpolated. Units: percent of population.
