Monthly participation rate and employment rate from Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey (table 14-10-0287-01), seasonally adjusted, both sexes, age 15 and over, for Canada and the 10 provinces. The participation rate is the labour force as a percentage of the population aged 15 and over; the employment rate is employed persons as a percentage of the same population. Coverage 1976-01 to the present with no upstream gaps. Caveats: same as the companion unemployment-rate dataset (Canada + 10 provinces only; latest months occasionally revised). Monthly unemployment rate from Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey (table 14-10-0287-01): unemployed persons as a percentage of the labour force, seasonally adjusted, both sexes, age 15 and over, for Canada and the 10 provinces. The LFS is Canada's official monthly household survey of labour market activity (~100,000 households). Coverage 1976-01 to the present with no upstream gaps. Caveats: seasonally adjusted estimates only — the monthly SA table publishes Canada and the 10 provinces only (the territories' monthly figures are 3-month moving averages in a separate table, not included here); the latest months are occasionally revised.
