SDG 8.5.1: avg hourly earnings by sex & skill level (annual)

Employees' average hourly earnings by sex and ISCO skill level, annual, for 138 countries, territories and ILO aggregates (2000 to 2025, 14,218 observations), from ILOSTAT national labour force surveys and ILO-STATISTICS microdata processing — dataflow DF_SDG_0851_SEX_OCU_NB, the official SDG 8.5.1 series. Method: gross remuneration in cash and in kind paid to employees, as a rule at regular intervals, for time worked or work done plus remuneration for time not worked, per hour actually worked. Five series per country x sex: all skill levels plus skill level 1 (low), 2 (medium), 3-4 (high) and not elsewhere classified. Units: nominal local currency, ISO 4217 code carried per row; earnings are NOT converted to a common currency, so levels are not comparable across countries without conversion — the female/male ratio within a country-year is. Caveats: some national sources report a different time unit (e.g. the United Kingdom reports per month), carried verbatim per row; OBS_STATUS=B flags a break when national methodology was revised, U flags low reliability; coverage is uneven (Canada publishes no series, Germany's latest skill-total year is 2022); figures are revised with each ILO vintage.
