Annual road freight transport in million tonne-kilometres, by country of haulier registration, for EU member states, EFTA countries, EU candidates and EU aggregates. Eurostat dataset road_go_ta_tott ('Road freight transport by type of operation and type of transport'), filtered to tra_type=TOTAL (all transport), tra_oper=TOTAL (all operations: loaded and empty, national and international), unit MIO_TKM (million tonne-kilometres). Each row is one (year, country): total road freight (empty runs included) reported by hauliers registered in the reporting country. Method: Eurostat compiles road freight surveys reported by national statistical offices; cabotage and cross-trade are attributed to the haulier's country of registration; non-EU/EFTA/candidate countries (notably the UK) are dropped by the connector's commercial-use geo rule. Units: million tonne-kilometres. Caveats: the tra_oper=TOTAL slice includes empty runs, so values exceed loaded-only series; the EU27_2020, EU28, EU27_2007, EU25 and EU15 aggregates are included as published; recent years are provisional and revised. Coverage: ~36 geographic units after the geo rule, 1999 to the present, annual.
