Recorded offences by category, annual (Europe)

Annual police-recorded offences by offence category - the number of offences recorded by the police - for EU member states, EFTA countries and EU candidate countries. Eurostat dataset crim_off_cat ('Crimes recorded by the police by offence category'), filtered to freq=A, unit=NR ('Number'). Each row is one (year, country, offence category) over the 25 published ICCS categories (intentional homicide, attempted homicide, serious assault, kidnapping, sexual violence incl. rape and sexual assault, robbery, burglary, theft, drug offences, fraud, corruption, money laundering, cybercrime, environmental offences and others). Method: Eurostat compiles the statistics from police records transmitted by the national statistical institutes under the UNODC International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS); category labels are kept verbatim from the API. Non-EU/EFTA/candidate series (the UK sub-national series UKC-L/UKM/UKN, Kosovo) are dropped (same licensing rule as the other Eurostat datasets). Units: number of recorded offences (counts). Caveats: police recording practices differ across countries, so cross-country levels are less comparable than within-country trends; national recording-system changes create series breaks for some countries; counts scale with population - the companion offence-rates dataset gives per-100,000 rates for direct comparisons.
